Danish Shipping has a clear objective of climate neutrality by 2050 without use of climate compensation. Furthermore, the first CO2-neutral oceangoing ship must be in commercial operation by 2030.

This is an ambitious objective that goes further than UN’s International Maritime Organization, IMO’s, current global objectives for the international shipping industry to be 40 percent more efficient by 2030 and total emissions to be reduced by 50 percent by 2050, compared to 2008.

This testifies that the Danish shipping industry is willing to be in front and take global leadership, but also that the transition to climate-neutral shipping does not happen overnight.
