Danish Shipping deals with issues of general business law and contributes to policy initiatives in the field
The focus is primarily on maritime law, corporate law, insurance law, competition law and accounting and capital market conditions. The rules help determine the framework conditions for shipping operations in and for Denmark. The regulatory framework includes ship registration, liability and insurance in connection with the transport of passengers and goods, including environmental damage, but also rules on arrest, maritime lien and wreck removal.
We represent the interest of our member in relation to national legislation, EU proposals and in the preparation of international conventions and are represented in the international shipping organizations ECSA, ICS, BIMCO and in the organization for maritime law, CMI. We are in ongoing dialogue with Danish authorities, and we are also participating in IMO negotiations on new regulation in the maritime sector. In addition to serving member interests in the elaboration of regulations, we also advise members on these topics.
