Sustainable Development Goals

UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) were presented in September 2015. The goals are supported by Danish Shipping who encourage stakeholders of every sector to acknowledge the global goals and take responsibility.

The Danish shipping industry touches upon all of the 17 goals, but have the highest impact on the following four goals:

8. Decent Work and Economic Growth

The national protectionism is of great concern to Danish Shipping. We engage with authorities to keep markets open and ensure free trade in order to benefit local communities.

13. Climate Action

Danish Shipping advocates international regulation with the aim to reduce the shipping industry's CO2 emissions.

14. Life Below Water

To protect the ocean resources, activities at sea should be regulated to ensure efficiency, safety and sustainability.

16. Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

Danish Shipping is working towards a total elimination of corruption and facilitation-payment.

Danish Shipping will continuously evaluate the priority of the Sustainable Development Goals and consider new initiatives that can contribute to the realisation of the goals. Read more about Danish Shipping approach to the Global Goals in the policy paper below.
