Foreign masters obtain the necessary knowledge about Danish maritime legislation to work on board Danish vessels, cf. the educational requirements of the training programme for courses in Danish shipping legislation, ship administration and Occupational Safety and Health (§16) for foreign masters, version 2.0 of March 1, 2009. The relevant Danish maritime legislations, regulations and stipulations are covered during the course.

The Danish maritime legislation course for foreign masters either includes Occupational Safety & Health §16 or is run as an upgrading course for masters who have already completed §16 and Danish maritime legislation for senior officers.

Participants:

Foreign masters who are going to serve on board Danish ships.

The participants must fulfill the qualifications to apply for Danish recognition of foreign certificates with the right to be master of ships registered in the Danish International Ship Register. Application must be made to the Danish Maritime Authorities. You can find "Guidance on procedures to be followed when applying for a Danish recognition certificate" here.

Virtual Classroom courses are online courses conducted by an instructor. This means that the participants can get feedback, ask questions and talk to each other as if they were sitting in the same room.

Registration:

We have launched a new registration system for our courses.

You register one or more students via the links "sign up" above, just as you must change and cancel the registrations yourself, if necessary. All the necessary information is in the confirmation email you receive upon registration.

If you experience challenges or have questions in regards to the registration, you can contact Rikke Busk Folkmann, Adviser at rbf@danishshipping.dk or +45 30959526.

You are also more than welcome to contact Ole Skovgaard Jensen, Training Adviser and Peter Skytte, Training Adviser academy@danishshipping.dk, if you have any questions regarding registration or the courses.

The §16 teaching is process-focused and based on the participants’ experiences and attitude to the work environment. This is supplemented with short theory presentations and plenary discussions. The participants will also be introduced to several simple instruments of practical use.

The maritime legislation teaching is carried out as a combination of lectures and relevant tests.
